This is a watchword message from Pc Stinchcombe at Cirencester Station. There has been a recent increase in burglaries and police are requesting residents remain vigilant and ensure all property is out of sight and secure. There have been Dwelling burglaries reported in the villages of Daglingworth, Somerford Keynes and Chipping Campden on Wednesday 17 August 2017 whereby houses have been entered and items stolen, as well as business properties in Harnhill and Temple Guiting having been broken into.
Since 1st July 2017 there have been 51 x Dwelling Burglaries reported to police as well as 31 x Business premises having been broken into during this period.
Farms have also seen an increase in being targeted with quad bike and 4×4 vehicles having been stolen from properties in Cotswold villages including Birdlip, Turkdean, Icomb, Bibury, Coln St Aldwyns, Chipping Campden, Northleach and Andoversford.
Please consider the installation of Tracker systems to farm vehicles to assist in the prevention of the vehicle theft as well as the use of Smartwater for aiding identification of property within the house and within the farm buildings. Should any person or vehicle be seen in the villages acting in a manner which causes concern, please contact police using the 999 system and include as much information about the person and vehicle as possible including vehicle colour, make, registration number where possible.
